Land Registry House Price Index – April 2010
The data from April’s Land Registry House Price Index Report shows that the average value for a property in England and Wales is £165,596. Annual house price change has increased from last month to 8.5 per cent. This is the sixth consecutive month in which the figure has been positive. The monthly change is also positive, at 0.2 per cent.
No region experienced a negative annual change in April and London’s annual growth of 14.8 per cent was the largest seen out of all of them. London’s house prices are now rising at a faster rate than those of England and Wales as a whole. The average property value in London is £341,487.
Sales volumes in England and Wales have increased over the past year, from an average of 32,089 transactions per month between November 2008 and February 2009, to an average of 53,137 in the same period a year later.
